Israeli Troops Close Palestinian TV Station

TEL AVIV, February 29 (RIA Novosti)

Israeli troops raided and closed on Wednesday a private Palestinian television station, al-Watan TV, located in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank, Anna Ukolova, a spokeswoman for the Israeli Army, said.
“We have warned the company several times about illegal broadcasting but they did not react. The company is pirate since it used prohibited broadcasting frequencies,” she said.
Sources in the Palestinian company said they never got any warnings and the Wednesday raid came unexpectedly. They also denounced the act and called it a violation of media freedoms.
The staff of the TV station enrolls about 35 people and it was the leading channel broadcasting in the Palestinian Authority that covers 38 percent of the West Bank.

Belarus, EU Spat Unlikely to Affect Moscow-Minsk Relations

MOSCOW, February 29 (RIA Novosti)

EU sanctions in regard to Belarus will not affect the integration processes underway between Moscow and Minsk, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
The EU announced on Monday that it had blacklisted another 21 Belarusian officials over their alleged involvement in the ongoing crackdown on the country’s opposition. Belarus, in response, advised the head of the EU delegation to Belarus, Ambassador Maira Mora, and Polish Ambassador Leszek Szerepka, to leave Minsk.
“First of all, I hope that the EU and Belarus will normalize their relations. But it will definitely not affect our [Russian and Belarusian] integration processes,” Putin said.
More than 200 people were already on the blacklist, including President Alexander Lukashenko, two of his sons, and most of the country's top leadership. They have been banned from entering the EU and their European assets have been frozen.
“These are relations of a political nature between the European Union and Belarus,” Putin said, adding that he does not see a threat to the Customs Union, which includes Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
In November, the Russian, Belarusian and Kazakh presidents signed a declaration on Eurasian economic integration, a roadmap of integration processes aimed at creating the Eurasian Economic Union, which will be based on the Customs Union and common economic space among the three countries.

Putin Promises Better Life for All in Election Pitch

MOSCOW, February 29 (RIA Novosti)

Improving the quality of life of ordinary citizens throughout Russia outside Moscow must be a priority, Russian Prime Minister and presidential candidate Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at a meeting with supporters.
“That is a different Russia. That's what we should look at with all our attention,” Putin said at a meeting with campaign leaders and members of the All-Russia People’s Front, his new election campaign vehicle.
“So the level and quality of life for people wherever they live in the country could be worthy,” he added.
Putin repeated his previous claim that the authorities do not plan to raise the retirement age, but gave assurance that suitable conditions would be created for those who want to earn a higher pension by working later in life.
“We have no plans to increase the retirement age. We must create conditions for the people who want to work beyond retirement age, who want to retain a good income and create additional conditions in order to earn a large pension,” Putin said.
Social support, he said, will be more targeted and more effective. “The overall level of pensions will also increase. We won’t allow retirees to end up below the poverty line,” he added.
“In the future, pensions should reach the conventional pan-European coefficient, the so-called replacement rate, 40 percent of the average wage,” he said.
The prime minister also spoke against imposing any restrictions on media and in favor of electing people according to their professional qualities instead of ethnicity or religious beliefs.
“We will not be able to form a stable situation in society without effective and free media. This is an obvious fact. This has always been like this and in our times, when the society is open, for instance to internet, it is senseless to restrict something in media,” he said.
“We must also elect people, particularly in the executive bodies, not in line with their ethnicity or religious beliefs, but according to their personal and professional qualities,” Putin added.
Putin paid a surprise visit to the southern Russian city of Astrakhan on Tuesday, where an apartment complex partially collapsed after a household gas explosion. The prime minister goes to the polls on Sunday as one of five candidates for the presidency. The winner will serve a six-year term.
Putin also used the occasion to reiterate his call for the introduction of criminal responsibility for violation of registration rules by migrants.

Putin Warns of ‘Sacrificial Killing’

MOSCOW, February 29 (RIA Novosti)

The opposition may stage provocations, including “bumping off” some high-profile figure and blaming it on the authorities, Russian Prime Minister and presidential hopeful Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
Such methods and tactics are known very well, he said during a meeting with his election campaign representatives and ruling party activists ahead of the March 4 presidential polls.
“They look for so-called sacrificial victims among some conspicuous figures. They will ‘bump him off,’ I beg your pardon, and will then blame the authorities for that.”
Street protests should be expected, but they will produce no result, Putin said, earlier warning the opposition to submit to the majority’s opinion.
“The minority has no right to impose its opinion on the majority,” he said.
Putin claimed he knew the opposition was making preparations to stuff ballot boxes and use video clips to discredit the presidential polls.

Most of the militants were foreigners.
Among them are a dozen Frenchmen demanded for himself the status of prisoners of war. They called their names, rank and military units to which they are seconded. One of them is a colonel in the service context of the management of external security.

France has requested assistance from the Russian Federation to negotiate with Syria for the release of prisoners of war. However, the Western media continues to tell lies about what the West is no interference in the sovereign affairs of Syria/

All Syrian opposition it's creature of WEST and USA it's new agression like in Lybia.

Russia upgrades Syria-based electronic station to warn Iran of US/Israeli attack

Russia upgrades Syria-based electronic station to warn Iran of US/Israeli attack
DEBKAfile Special Report February 27, 2012, 11:09 AM (GMT+02:00) Tags: Russia-Iran Syria Lebanon radar & surveillance

Russian electronic station on Jabal Al Harrah
The Russians have upgraded their Jabal Al Harrah electronic and surveillance station south of Damascus opposite Israel’s Sea of Galilee, adding resources especially tailored to give Tehran early warning of an oncoming US or Israeli attack, DEBKAfile’s US military sources report.
Before it was boosted by extra advanced technology and manpower, the station covered civilian and military movements in northern Israel up to Tel Aviv, northern Jordan and western Iraq. Today, its range extends to all parts of Israel and Jordan, the Gulf of Aqaba and northern Saudi Arabia.
Part two of Moscow’s project for extending the range of its Middle East ears and eyes consisted of upgrading the Russian-equipped Syrian radar stationed on Lebanon’s Mount Sannine and connecting it to the Jabal Al Harrah facility in Syria. Russian technicians have completed this project too. Russia is now able to additionally track US and Israeli naval and aerial movements in the Eastern Mediterranean up to and including Cyprus and Greece.
According to our sources, the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kutznetsov’s stay at the Syrian port of Tartus through most of January and up to mid-February had the special mission of keeping an eye out for any Israeli preparations for attacking Iran, Syria or Hizballah. It filled the gap left by the Russian station south of Damascus which was fully occupied with feeding data on Syrian opposition movements to Bashar Assad and watching out for signs of foreign intervention, military or covert, against his regime.
The Russian vessel meanwhile followed increased traffic of US drone over Syria keeping track of the Syrian arsenal of missiles with chemical, biological and nerve gas warheads.
Washington disclosed on Feb. 25 that the US State Department had sent out warnings to six countries, Israel, Turkey, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq, to beware of these deadly weapons. It was not clear whether the warning referred to a possible Assad regime’s decision to use WMD against those nations or the danger of their transfer to terrorists embedded within those countries.
Moscow decided to boost its radar tracking and surveillance reach for Iran’s benefit in response to a complaint from Tehran that it could not longer count on Russia for a real-time alert on an incoming US or Israeli military strike, because those resources were stretched to the limit in support of the Assad regime.
After expanding and upgrading their range to meet Iranian needs by interconnecting the two stations and adding extra Russian manpower, Moscow ordered the Admiral Kutznetsov to depart Tartus on Feb. 13 and sail to home port at Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula. The Russian stations in Syria and Lebanon were by then ready for their expanded missions.

WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files

LONDON—Today, Monday 27 February, WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files – more than five million emails from the Texas-headquartered "global intelligence" company Stratfor. The emails date from between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defense Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor’s web of informers, pay-off structure, payment-laundering techniques and psychological methods, for example :

"[Y]ou have to take control of him. Control means financial, sexual or psychological control... This is intended to start our conversation on your next phase" – CEO George Friedman to Stratfor analyst Reva Bhalla on 6 December 2011, on how to exploit an Israeli intelligence informant providing information on the medical condition of the President of Venezuala, Hugo Chavez.

The material contains privileged information about the US government’s attacks against Julian Assange and WikiLeaks and Stratfor’s own attempts to subvert WikiLeaks. There are more than 4,000 emails mentioning WikiLeaks or Julian Assange. The emails also expose the revolving door that operates in private intelligence companies in the United States. Government and diplomatic sources from around the world give Stratfor advance knowledge of global politics and events in exchange for money. The Global Intelligence Files exposes how Stratfor has recruited a global network of informants who are paid via Swiss banks accounts and pre-paid credit cards. Stratfor has a mix of covert and overt informants, which includes government employees, embassy staff and journalists around the world.

The material shows how a private intelligence agency works, and how they target individuals for their corporate and government clients. For example, Stratfor monitored and analysed the online activities of Bhopal activists, including the "Yes Men", for the US chemical giant Dow Chemical. The activists seek redress for the 1984 Dow Chemical/Union Carbide gas disaster in Bhopal, India. The disaster led to thousands of deaths, injuries in more than half a million people, and lasting environmental damage.

Stratfor has realised that its routine use of secret cash bribes to get information from insiders is risky. In August 2011, Stratfor CEO George Friedman confidentially told his employees : "We are retaining a law firm to create a policy for Stratfor on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. I don’t plan to do the perp walk and I don’t want anyone here doing it either."

Stratfor’s use of insiders for intelligence soon turned into a money-making scheme of questionable legality. The emails show that in 2009 then-Goldman Sachs Managing Director Shea Morenz and Stratfor CEO George Friedman hatched an idea to "utilise the intelligence" it was pulling in from its insider network to start up a captive strategic investment fund. CEO George Friedman explained in a confidential August 2011 document, marked DO NOT SHARE OR DISCUSS : "What StratCap will do is use our Stratfor’s intelligence and analysis to trade in a range of geopolitical instruments, particularly government bonds, currencies and the like". The emails show that in 2011 Goldman Sach’s Morenz invested "substantially" more than $4million and joined Stratfor’s board of directors. Throughout 2011, a complex offshore share structure extending as far as South Africa was erected, designed to make StratCap appear to be legally independent. But, confidentially, Friedman told StratFor staff : "Do not think of StratCap as an outside organisation. It will be integral... It will be useful to you if, for the sake of convenience, you think of it as another aspect of Stratfor and Shea as another executive in Stratfor... we are already working on mock portfolios and trades". StratCap is due to launch in 2012.

The Stratfor emails reveal a company that cultivates close ties with US government agencies and employs former US government staff. It is preparing the 3-year Forecast for the Commandant of the US Marine Corps, and it trains US marines and "other government intelligence agencies" in "becoming government Stratfors". Stratfor’s Vice-President for Intelligence, Fred Burton, was formerly a special agent with the US State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service and was their Deputy Chief of the counterterrorism division. Despite the governmental ties, Stratfor and similar companies operate in complete secrecy with no political oversight or accountability. Stratfor claims that it operates "without ideology, agenda or national bias", yet the emails reveal private intelligence staff who align themselves closely with US government policies and channel tips to the Mossad – including through an information mule in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Yossi Melman, who conspired with Guardian journalist David Leigh to secretly, and in violation of WikiLeaks’ contract with the Guardian, move WikiLeaks US diplomatic cables to Israel.

Ironically, considering the present circumstances, Stratfor was trying to get into what it called the leak-focused "gravy train" that sprung up after WikiLeaks’ Afghanistan disclosures :

"[Is it] possible for us to get some of that ’leak-focused’ gravy train ? This is an obvious fear sale, so that’s a good thing. And we have something to offer that the IT security companies don’t, mainly our focus on counter-intelligence and surveillance that Fred and Stick know better than anyone on the planet... Could we develop some ideas and procedures on the idea of ´leak-focused’ network security that focuses on preventing one’s own employees from leaking sensitive information... In fact, I’m not so sure this is an IT problem that requires an IT solution."

Like WikiLeaks’ diplomatic cables, much of the significance of the emails will be revealed over the coming weeks, as our coalition and the public search through them and discover connections. Readers will find that whereas large numbers of Stratfor’s subscribers and clients work in the US military and intelligence agencies, Stratfor gave a complimentary membership to the controversial Pakistan general Hamid Gul, former head of Pakistan’s ISI intelligence service, who, according to US diplomatic cables, planned an IED attack on international forces in Afghanistan in 2006. Readers will discover Stratfor’s internal email classification system that codes correspondence according to categories such as ’alpha’, ’tactical’ and ’secure’. The correspondence also contains code names for people of particular interest such as ’Hizzies’ (members of Hezbollah), or ’Adogg’ (Mahmoud Ahmedinejad).

Stratfor did secret deals with dozens of media organisations and journalists – from Reuters to the Kiev Post. The list of Stratfor’s "Confederation Partners", whom Stratfor internally referred to as its "Confed Fuck House" are included in the release. While it is acceptable for journalists to swap information or be paid by other media organisations, because Stratfor is a private intelligence organisation that services governments and private clients these relationships are corrupt or corrupting.

WikiLeaks has also obtained Stratfor’s list of informants and, in many cases, records of its payoffs, including $1,200 a month paid to the informant "Geronimo" , handled by Stratfor’s Former State Department agent Fred Burton.

WikiLeaks has built an investigative partnership with more than 25 media organisations and activists to inform the public about this huge body of documents. The organisations were provided access to a sophisticated investigative database developed by WikiLeaks and together with WikiLeaks are conducting journalistic evaluations of these emails. Important revelations discovered using this system will appear in the media in the coming weeks, together with the gradual release of the source documents.

War Criminal Bill Clinton Among Nobel Peace Prize Nominees

Kurt Nimmo
PrisonPlanet.com
February 27, 2012
Former president Bill Clinton is among nominees for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize, Reuters reports. Jan Egeland, the European director of Human Rights Watch, mentioned Clinton after the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee said it was considering two hundred and thirty one names.

Nobel Prize winner Obama learned how to sell mass murder as humanitarianism from Clinton.
In 2009, the current war criminal in chief, Barry Obama, was chosen as peacemaker. The Committee said Obama received the award “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people.” Obama was continuing and amplifying upon Bush’s wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan at the time, making him a perfect candidate for the hypocritical “award” doled out by the ossified Norwegian Nobel Institute and its secretariat.
In 1999, Bill Clinton was one of the world’s leading war criminals. He had surpassed the crimes of his predecessor and “brought to the commission of war crimes a new eclectic reach and postmodern style,” Edward S. Herman wrote at the time. “A skilled public relations person, he has refined the rhetoric of humanistic and ethical concern and can apologize with seeming great sincerity,” a parlor trick Obama has attempted to emulate.
Clinton bombed the former Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Sudan, killing untold numbers. In the latter case, he bombed a pharmaceutical plant.
His putrid crown was the sanctions regime imposed on Iraq. “UNICEF reports that in 1999 more than 1 million Iraqi children under 5 were suffering from chronic malnutrition, and some 4,000-5,000 children are dying per month beyond normal death rates from the combination of malnutrition and disease,” writes Herman. “Death from disease was greatly increased by the shortage of potable water and medicines, that has led to a 20-fold increase in malaria (among other ailments). This vicious sanctions system, causing a creeping extermination of a people, has already caused more than a million excess deaths,” a toll that has exceeded the toll of “all so-called weapons of mass destruction [nuclear and chemical] throughout all history,” according to John and Karl Mueller.

Clinton and NATO specialized in targeting civilians like these Albanian refugees.

In Yugoslavia, Clinton targeted civilian infrastructure and civilian facilities – houses, hospitals, schools, trains, factories, power stations, and broadcasting facilities. Noted journalist John Pilger added “housing estates, hotels, libraries, youth centers, theaters, museums, churches and 14th century monasteries on the World Heritage list” to Clinton’s target roster. According to Yugoslav authorities, 60 percent of NATO targets were civilian, including 33 hospitals and 344 schools, as well as 144 major industrial plants and a large petro-chemical plant whose bombing caused a pollution catastrophe.
Not long after Clinton ran out of targets, the BBC reported that the use of depleted uranium in Serbia would cause 10,000 extra deaths from cancer. Scientists at Kozani in northern Greece reported that radiation levels were 25% above normal whenever the wind blew from the direction of Kosovo while Bulgarian researchers reported finding levels eight times higher than usual within Bulgaria itself, and up to 30 times higher in Yugoslavia.

Considering the fact that the Nobel Prize is now a cheap artifact awarded to war criminals and psychopaths, Clinton should be a shoo-in. Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, alleged WikiLeaks whistleblower Bradley Manning, and more than 200 other nominees should be dropped from consideration.
Bill Clinton, war criminal extraordinaire, is the ideal choice.

Shocking Video: Syrian opposition violence

Red Cross corridor to Homs – start of foreign intervention in Syria

DEBKAfile
February 25, 2012
Under the protection of the United States, Turkey, Britain, France, Italy, Qatar and the UAE, the first Red Cross convoys reached Homs Friday, Feb. 24. They began evacuating untreated injured victims and bringing medical aid to the city devastated and beleaguered by Bashar Assad’s troops. This ICRC corridor marked the first step toward foreign intervention in the Syrian crisis.
DEBKAfile’s military sources report exclusively that it came about after Washington and Ankara warned Assad through confidential channels that if his forces interfered with the emergency medical route for Homs, US and Turkish warplanes would take off from air bases in East Turkey and give the medical convoys air cover, thereby opening the door for a Western-Arab plan for resolving the Syrian crisis (which was first revealed exclusively in DEBKA-Net-Weekly 530 out Friday, Feb. 23.)
Assad’s response to the warning is unknown.
Early Saturday, US President Barack Obama delivered his harshest denunciation yet of the Assad regime.
The International community must continue sending the message to Syria’s president to step down, and “use every tool available to prevent the slaughter of innocents. It is time for a transition and time for that regime to move on.”

Chossudovsky: NATO Supporting Armed Insurrection in Syria

With Friends Like ‘Friends of Syria’…

Daniel McAdams
The LRC Blog
Friday, February 24, 2012

As Secretary of State Clinton prepares to convene her “Friends of Syria” conference in that capitol of the Arab Spring, Tunisia, where democratic nirvana has been achieved, she is joined by her willing accomplices from those well-known liberal democracies Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Under the guise of bringing peace to Syria, which although not in civil war as is often erroneously claimed but rather is being torn apart by a limited but well-armed uprising, Secretary Clinton and her boss will bring instead death and destruction, as they did in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and as her husband did earlier in Yugoslavia. However on the eve of a grotesquely contrived Tunisia “Friends” meeting she is playing coy with already-determined US/GCC/NATO plans to overthrow another — the last secular — regime in the Middle East.
Clinton confidently predicts that this limited and disorganized uprising will coalesce into a full-scale civil war and that a fighting force will be established capable of overthrowing the significant military resources of the Syrian government. She must know something we don’t, as she unequivocally states on the eve of the conference, “There will be increasingly capable opposition forces. They will from somewhere, somehow, find the means to defend themselves as well as begin offensive measures.”

As RT reports, “The Friends of Syria are expected to put an ultimatum to Assad government – either broker a ceasefire to allow aid group to give help to civilians suffering in the conflict or face as-yet-unspecified additional punitive measures.” The problem with this approach, mirroring as it does the failed UN Security Council resolution just a few weeks ago, is that the “ceasefire” it demands only applies to one side — the governmental forces seeking to put down the armed insurrection. Imagine if the Occupy movement in the US had been an armed one, equipped with Chinese and Iranian weaponry, and Russia demanded that the Obama regime observe a one-sided cease-fire?
Oh, but there are different rules for the US than for the rest of the world! We are the ones charged — burdened — with fomenting, aiding, arming, and bombing to achieve the worldwide democratic revolution!
Funny it was not long ago that such a maniacal drive to impose a utopian ideological system on the entire world was resisted by the full force of the United States and the “free world,” believing as it correctly did then that it was up to the peoples themselves to determine what is best for them. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, it is the US that is rhetorically blistering those countries seeking to resist its imposition of an “end of history” view of a new international order.
Clinton, still reeling at the audacity of Russia and China to veto the UN regime change resolution on Syria, barked today, “The pressure will build on countries like Russia and China because world opinion is not going to stand idly by. Arab opinion is not going to be satisfied watching two nations, one for commercial reasons one for commercial and ideological reasons, bolstering a regime that is defying every rule of modern international norms.”

The majority of Syrians who do not want Assad to go? They are resisting the vanguard and as such they do not count. In the brave new world of post-modern democracy, the majority opinion must sometimes be pushed aside so that progress can continue!

«Kill Every Russian & Every Chinese in Syria…»: US Policies Will Boomerang

In contrast to Libya, Syria became the scene of a revolt that almost immediately went off script: the majority of Syria’s population remain the government’s loyalists, and the Syrian army never disintegrated into warring factions.

According to Western estimates, the rebel forces in Syria combined with the relatively small bunch of army defectors are outnumbered by at least a factor of four by the regular army which is also much better armed.

The attacks launched by guerrillas on the regions where most of the residents are traditionally hostile to B. Assad and the attempts to cause the people to rebel are at the moment being successfully suppressed, while the opposition’s street marches typically run into response rallies staged by the supporters of the legitimate authority.

Importantly, Russia and China strongly hold their own in the UN and block whatever Security Council resolutions that might be read as authorizing an intervention against Syria.

As a result, the key objective behind the revolt in the country — to unleash a full-blown civil war in Syria — at the moment stays out of reach for those who orchestrated the unrest.

The authors of the Syrian revolt scenario must be aware that the country is inching towards a pivotal point — debates over its new constitution are due to open in just one week. Considering that the process will likely cool tensions and promote dialog between the current regime and its critics, drastic steps aimed at derailing the reform in Syria can be expected to follow within days.

As a side-effect, the ongoing Syrian polarization highlighted the existing perceptions of Russia, the country which had contributed enormously to the formation of the present-day Syria. The late Soviet Union invariably backed Syria’s sovereignty and assisted it in achieving genuine statehood, and most Syrians continue to see Moscow as a friend they can rely on.

It is clear in the context that outrage at Russia must be rising among Syria’s foes. For those, Russia is an enemy they feel they need to fight against, not shying away from distinctly terrorist methods. The camp, it must be noted, is an extremely heterogeneous alliance one could hardly imagine under less pressing circumstances.

It counts in its ranks the leaders of the world’s top-democratic Empire, NATO warmongers, professional liars from Brussels offices, hateful Syrian emigrants, and — the last but not the least — the omnipresent Muslim extremists of all brands, from theorists preoccupied with the clash of civilizations to practitioners convinced that mass murder is the best argument ever.

The Russian-Chinese veto in the UN Security Council evidently triggered a round of hyperactivity in the whole crew.

The first furious outcry came from Washington as US Secretary of State H. Clinton said that Russia and China would eventually be held responsible by the people of Syria for prolonging their sufferings. With emotions running high, the US Administration went on to uphold the idea of supplying arms to the Syrian rebels, thus hoping to alleviate Syrians’ sufferings.

It is an unwritten rule that selling emotions as arguments is Washington’s privilege. US ambassador to the UN Susan Rice made full use of it when she told CNN that “the United States is disgusted that a couple of members of this Council continue to prevent us from fulfilling our sole purpose”.

Guns of smaller caliber followed the lead momentarily. Fox News, for example, featured a video of people with banners saying, in a reference to the Russian-Chinese veto in the UN Security Council, that Russia was killing their children. Whoever the people were, chances are part of the audience seriously concluded that Russian and Chinese were somehow butchering defenseless kids in Syria.

Now, again, let us turn to the heavyweights — White House press secretary Jay Carney stated that Iran’s militancy, repressions in Syria, and Russia’s support for both countries altogether created a complex situation whereby the three states act as “a counsel of the wicked”.

Former US Defense Secretary W. Gohen voiced nearly the same idea when he said that the Russia-Syria-Iran axis was nothing new and that Russia had played the game for quite some time and would continue doing so. Moscow should almost start feeling neglected if some day invectives like the above suddenly vanish from the agenda.

In any case, that is the price Russia has to pay for pursuing an independent policy.

The runaway Syrian opposition readily picked up as Paris-based Syrian oppositional Transitional National Council head Burhan Ghalioun bluntly blamed on Russia and China the deaths and devastations in Syria.

Even that, however, sounds moderate compared to the statement spelled out by Syrian dissenter Saadallah Jibri:

«Will we suffice with condemnations against Russia or will the brave Syrian people and its Arab peers take to the streets and stage protests in front of the Russian and Chinese embassies in every capital of the world? Personally, I will go even further and demand that Russians take to the streets to protest against Putin’s criminal rule and the madness of supporting Assad’s regime. Would that be enough? It would be enough if the disgusting hostility of Russia to the Syrian Arab people comes to an end. If that does not happen, we should take revenge, we should kidnap and kill every Russian and every Chinese in Syria».

Chairman of an international Muslim theology council Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a man who avoids going public about has association with the Muslim Brotherhood but has a reputation of the group’s religious authority, maintains essentially the same.

In an interview to Al Jazeera, he called «all Arabs, all Muslims, and honest people» to struggle against the Syrian authorities and those who back them. Al-Qaradawi suggested as an instrument of the struggle a boycott of Russian ad Chinese products on the grounds that the money used to pay for them is converted into weapons killing Syrians.

The eternal law of war is that it divides people into allies and enemies. Russia clearly is not on the side of terrorists and their patrons, and therefore must face the challenge. The rebels’ threats have to be taken seriously as there is no doubt that for them killing Russians outside of Russia would not be below the acceptable. Yet, the situation has another dimension that would likely become impossible to ignore in the nearest future.

From a wider perspective, the whole range of developments evokes a sense of deja vu. In an epoch that has not completely sunk into oblivion, the US and British intelligence agencies put together the Taliban movement which was supposed to counter the Soviet forces in Afghanistan. The Jikhadists were given arms, heavily funded, and allowed to act without restraint, downright terrorism being among admissible options.

Eventually Al Qaeda, known to be a product of Anglo-Saxon policies, established itself as a monster capable of taking thousands of lives, including those of US citizens. Such is the longer storyline behind the drama of September 11.

What is the likely result of encouraging Syrian rebels to target Russians and Chinese in terrorist strikes? In a quest for global publicity, sooner or later, the new terrorists will be indiscriminately hunting US and British citizens along with Russians.

As in the case of Afghanistan, the West’s own policies will boomerang, and then the US may see some sort of September 12 as a replay of September 11.

Syria, the new Libya By Pepe Escobar

A Kalashnikov in Iraq, until recently, sold for US$100. Now it's at least $1,000, and most probably $1,500 (those were the days when Sunnis joining the resistance in 2003 could buy a fake Kalashnikov made in Romenia for $20).

Destination of choice of the $1,500 Kalashnikov in 2012: Syria. Network: al-Qaeda in the Land of the Two Rivers, also known as AQI. Recipients: infiltrated jihadis operating side-by-side with the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

Also shuttling between Syria and Iraq is car bombing and suicide bombing, as in two recent bombings in the suburbs of Damascus and the suicide bombing last Friday in Aleppo.

Who would have thought that what the House of Saud wants in Syria - an Islamist regime - is exactly what al-Qaeda wants in Syria?

Ayman "The Surgeon" al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's number one, in an eight-minute video titled "Onwards, Lions of Syria", has just called for the support of Muslims in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey to topple Bashar al-Assad "pernicious, cancerous regime". They had been responding, in kind, even before The Surgeon came into the picture. Not only those, but especially transplanted Libyan "freedom fighters", formerly known as "rebels".

Who would have thought that what NATOGCC (North Atlantic Treaty Organization-Gulf Cooperation Council) wants for Syria is exactly what al-Qaeda wants for Syria?

So when the Assad regime, for all its ghastly military offensives that essentially victimize civilians caught in cross fire, says it's fighting "terrorists", it's not exactly bending the truth. Even that ubiquitous, proverbial entity, the unnamed "US official", is blaming AQI for the recent bombings. Same for Iraq's Deputy Interior Minister Adnan al-Assadi; "We have intelligence information that a number of Iraqi jihadists went to Syria."

So if Syria could not be the new Libya in the sense of a UN resolution authorizing NATO humanitarian bombing - vetoed by BRICS members Russia and China - Syria is a new Libya in the sense of unsavory ties between the "rebels" and hardcore Salafi-jihadis.

And as the West absolutely loves a win-win situation, no matter how prefabricated, that could also turn into the perfect Pentagon casus belli to intervene - as in freeing Syria from an "al-Qaeda" which was never there in the first place. Remember - for all the hype about the Pentagon/Obama administration's "pivoting" from the Middle East to East Asia, the global war on terror (GWOT), rebranded by Obama as "overseas contingency operations" (OCO), is still alive and kicking.

Liberate me so I can kill at ease
Last year, Asia Times Online extensively reported that "liberated" Libya - "liberated" by the so-called NATO rebels - would descend into militia hell. That's exactly what's happening; at least 250 different militias in Misurata alone, according to Human Rights Watch, acting as cops on the beat, judges and exterminators all rolled into one. There's no Ministry of Justice to speak of in "liberated" Libya. If you go to jail, you end up dead; and if you are a sub-Saharan African, you get a bonus of extensive torture at a liberated resort before meeting the same fate.

Just as in Libya, as a matter of strategy, for the House of Saud/Qatar Sunni axis, any possibility of a real dialogue between the (armed) insurrection and the Assad regime has been thwarted. After all; the key objective is regime change. Thus crude propaganda - in an Arab media largely controlled either by Saudis or Qataris - rules.

Example; the much-lauded Britain-based Syrian Observatory of Human Rights, which vomits unending, unsubstantiated statistics on government "massacres" - and even "genocide" - gets its funds from a Dubai entity financed by shady Western and GCC donors.

As a bonus, the non-stop "opposition" spin totally laser-guides Western corporate media coverage. CNN attributed the Aleppo bombing last Friday to "terrorists" - in quotation marks; imagine the hysteria if this was the US Green Zone in Iraq bombed by the Sunni resistance in the mid-2000s. The BBC actually believed the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood spin according to which the Syrian government bombed itself; it would be like the Pentagon bombing itself in the Green Zone. As for Arab media - largely controlled by Saudis and Qataris - it has totally ignored the AQI connection.

The GCC League - formerly Arab League - after bombing its own report on Syria because it didn't fit the prefabricated narrative of an "evil" regime unilaterally bombing its people, is now peddling a supposedly humanitarian plan B; a joint Arab/UN peacekeeping mission to "supervise the execution of a cease-fire". But no one should be fooled; the agenda remains regime change.

Prince Saud al-Faisal, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, has been making the right noises, ruling out a humanitarian intervention. At the same time, it's refreshing to hear the oh so progressive House of Saud carping about the "lack of commitment of the Syrian government", and pontificating that " what Syria is witnessing is not racist, not sectarian, nor guerrilla war, but a mass purge without any humanitarian considerations".

Imagine the House of Saud's "humanitarian considerations" should a pro-democracy movement emerge in the Shi'ite majority eastern province (it did; and it was ruthlessly pre-empted). Better yet; look at how "humanitarian" they looked in their invasion of Bahrain.

The NATOGCC agenda remains the same; regime change, by any means possible. Even Warrior-in-Chief US President Barack Obama said so himself. The GCC minions will happily oblige. So expect an inflation of Kalashnikovs crossing borders, more car bombings, more suicide bombings, more civilians caught in cross fire, and the slow, immensely tragic, fragmentation of Syria.

Ancient Tower Collapses in Afghanistan

MOSCOW, February 12 (RIA Novosti)

Tags: Ghazni, Afghanistan
One of the 36 towers of the ancient Afghanistan fortress Bala Hissar collapsed in the early hours of Sunday, Pajhwok news agency reported.
Bala Hissar was built in 11 century A.D. and is located near the city of Ghazni. The fortress is a monument of architecture and a UNESCO heritage site.
Local residents said the tower’s foundation was affected by continuing rains.
In 2013, UNESCO will declare Ghazni center of world Islamic culture. Architects are currently trying to preserve the city. Germany has allocated 2 million euros for the restoration of Bala Hissar.
In December, the site was spruced up and prepared for restoration works, which are scheduled for this spring.
Bala Hissar was the site of some of the bloodiest fighting in Afghanistan during the 19th century when Afghanistan came into conflict with the invading British during the First Anglo-Afghan War (1838–1842) and Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878–1880).

Syria – Libya – Human Rights Groups are Responsible for Lies and Mass Murder, 4 of 5

Editor’s note: It amazes me how these people speak fluently English with no accent, I mean you would never know they were Syrians or Libyans, What does that tells you…??? That these people have never leaved in these countries they where not born in Syria or Libya but in Europe and they are foreign agents.

How do I know? I am a Linguist expert you can distinguish an Arab a real Arab who has been born and raised in his country and has been taught English even if he has gone to a boarding school in England you can still distinguish the difference unless you go to a drama school an teach you how to pronounce different languages and still they slip! We are still unique…

NATO’s “Secret War” on Syria: Replicating the Libya Model

British Special Forces Supporting Rebels
Stephen Lendman
Global Research
February 12, 2012
In January, Michel Chossudovsky reported British media confirming UK/CIA/MI6 operatives in Syria training anti-Assad Western-backed insurgents. They’re also supplying them with arms, ammunition, and equipment.
“These reports confirm unequivocally [they're illegally] interfer[ing] in the affairs of a sovereign state. This is not a popular uprising. The insurrection as well as the killings of civilians were sponsored by the Western powers from the outset.”
More on this below. Events replicate the Libya model a year earlier.
In February 2011, US/UK/French special forces and intelligence operatives actively began helping anti-Gaddafi NATO-backed militants. An armed insurgency followed, including bombing weeks later.
A year later, BBC confirmed it, saying:
“….British special forces were deployed on the ground in order to help the UK’S allies – the Libyan ‘revolutionaries’ often called the National Transitional Council or NTC.”
Knowledgeable sources said “they did a tremendous job” conquering Libya. “The existence of E Squadron is well known within the special forces community but has not hitherto been discussed publicly. It was formed five years ago to work closely with the intelligence service MI6, and is mainly involved in missions where maximum discretion is required, say Whitehall insiders.”
Composed of SAS, SBS, and Special Reconnaissance Regiment forces, it “often operates in plain clothes and with the full range of national support, such as false identities, at its disposal.”

Last March, other British media provided similar accounts. The London Daily Mail, said “hundreds of British special forces troops have been deployed deep inside Libya targeting Colonel Gaddafi’s forces – and more are on standby.”
“It is understood that just under 250 UK special forces soldiers have been in Libya since before the launch of air strikes to enforce the no-fly zone against Gaddafi’s forces.”
Another hundred or more were on standby. They were comprised of Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) paratroupers drawn from the SAS (Special Air Service) and SBS (Special Boat Service). They were resupplied from Cyprus. Moreover, 800 Royal Marines were “on five days notice” to deploy to the Mediterranean.
Last March, six squadron members were caught red-handed. Dropped in by helicopter, they were dressed in black, well-armed with weapons, explosives, maps and false passports. Britain claimed they arrived to protect diplomats and monitor events in Benghazi, not military operations.
An official Ministry of Defense statement said, “We neither confirm nor deny the story and we do not comment on the special forces.”
The Libyan model’s being replicated in Syria, so far short of bombing. Expect it if current tactics don’t achieve regime change.
On February 9, Russia Today (RT.com) reported:
“British and Qatari troops are directing rebel ammunition deliveries and tactics in the bloody battle for Homs,” according to the Mossad-connected DEBKAfile.
On February 8, it reported:
UK and Qatari “special operations units are operating with rebel forces under cover in (Homs), according to DEBKAfile’s exclusive military and intelligence sources.”
Allegedly not engaged in fighting, they’re tactically aiding and abetting foreign insurgents illegally against a sovereign government.
DEBKAfile reported an Ankara plan to send Turkish/Arab forces to Homs and other “flashpoint cities.” Earlier, Assad said full-scale war would confront Turkish or other forces if they invade.
On February 8, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visited Washington for help. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s enlisting support from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states. Anti-Assad pressure’s building.
Qatar’s ruling Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, openly admitted supporting insurgents with cash, weapons and munitions. In mid-January, he said he’s ready to send troops.
On February 8, London Daily Mail writer Tim Shipman headlined, “Britain will help Syrian rebels says (PM) Cameron as Assad army bombs continue to rain down on Homs,” saying:
Details of “a three point plan to force” out Assad “were signed off yesterday” at a National Security Council meeting.
According to a Whitehall security source:
“The training is taking place on a one to one basis with opposition leaders outside Syria.” No further information about direct intervention was supplied.
On February 10, Daily Mail writer Lee Moran quoted a US State Department source saying the Pentagon’s considering arming insurgents. Earlier, Obama said no “option(s are) off the table.”
On February 8, London Telegraph writer Alex Spillius headlined, “International ‘militarisation’ in Syria growing closer, warns US official,” saying:
Washington debate shifted from diplomacy “towards more robust action since Russia and China blocked” Security Council action. “Any plan to supply aid or set up a buffer zone would involve a military dimension to protect aid convoys or vulnerable civilians.”
“The Pentagon Central Command has begun a preliminary internal review of US military capabilities in the region” to provide options if ordered. An unnamed senior US official said “increasingly it looks like (military intervention) may not be avoidable.”
If initiated, regional allies will be involved, including Turkey, Gulf states, and perhaps Israel. Last August, Ria Novosti headlined, “NATO plans campaign in Syria, tightens noose around Iran – Rogozin,” saying:
Russia’s NATO envoy Dmitry Rogozin said NATO’s planning to oust Assad and establish a beachhead for attacking Iran. Izvestia quoted him saying:
Planning for a military campaign “is well underway. It could be a logical conclusion of those military and propaganda operations, which have been carried out by certain Western countries against North Africa.”
Rogozin added that NATO plans intervening only against those regimes “whose views do not coincide with those of the West.” As a result, he envisioned a possible “large-scale war in this huge region.”
Military intervention now seems likely. Expect regional proxies to be used. Air power support may follow. UK, Qatari, and perhaps other Western elements inside Syria represent initial steps toward what appears planned.
A Final Comment
The business of America is permanent wars for unchallengeable wealth, power, and dominance, while homeland needs go begging.
Obama’s a war profiteer front man. He plans them while talking peace. Ravaging Afghanistan continues. Thousands of US troops remain in Iraq. Others were repositioned nearby. Increased numbers were added to establish a larger regional footprint, combining air, ground, and naval units for future combat operations.
Syria’s target one, then Iran. Whether full-scale war’s planned isn’t clear.
However, proxy operations may develop that way whether or not intended.
Washington wants total regional dominance. Nothing’s off the table to achieve it.

Al-Qaeda leader backs Syrian revolt against Assad

Reuters
February 12, 2012
Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri, in a video recording posted on the Internet on Sunday, urged Syrians not to rely on the West or Arab governments in their uprising to topple President Bashar Assad.
In the eight-minute video, titled “Onwards, Lions of Syria” and posted on an Islamist website, the Egyptian-born Zawahri also urged Muslims in Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan to come to the aid of Syrian rebels confronting Assad’s forces.
“Wounded Syria still bleeds day after day, while the butcher, son of the butcher Bashar bin Hafiz (Hafez Assad), is not deterred to stop,” Zawahri, wearing his white turban and seated against a green curtain, said.
“But the resistance of our people in Syria despite all the pain, sacrifice and bloodshed escalates and grows,” he added.
Zawahri took command of al Qaeda after Osama bin Laden was killed by US special forces in a raid in Pakistan last May.
A Muslim should help “his brothers in Syria with all that he can, with his life, money, opinion, as well as information,” Zawahri says.
